A group of motor bikers attacked police posts in capital Male' including police vehicles and other equipments of Maldives police service.According to the local news the group belongs to Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) who lost the government after a peaceful resignation of President Nasheed.The gang threatened and attacked police with knives damaging several equipments smashing computer system, damaging vehicles.
The Police also took into custody a group of people at Raalhugan’du area last night, who had attacked a Police vehicle in Henveiru. Confrontations took place between the two parties when Police tried to arrest them.
Attacking the Police and their vehicles has become common practice now. On 1 March, a Police Officer was attacked while riding his motorbike past Male’ City Council, with his motorbike set on fire subsequent to the attack.
