HaveeruNo terrorist group operating in Maldives, says MNDF
MALE, May 6, 2010 (Haveeru News Service) – No terrorist group has set up a training base in any part of the country, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has said on Wednesday.
In a press release, MNDF denied reports in Indian media that a terrorist organisation has planned to set up a training camp in an uninhabited island of the Maldives and is attempting to attack India through Maldives.
“We have not received information from the Indian government or any intelligence agency regarding the activities of Lashkare-Taiba or any other organisation in Maldives. There is no chance for any terrorist organisation to launch an attack against India or any other country from Maldives,” the statement read.
We assure [every country] that any organisation would not stand a chance to attack India or any other country through the Maldives.”
Referring to Indian government, Indian Express on April 27 claimed that the Pakistani terrorist organisation Lashkare-Taiba is attempting to attack India through Maldives and other countries of the region.
