A resident of Mukurimagu ward who wished to remain anonymous said the clashes were among a series of encounters, due to disputes between residents of Mukurimagu and Mathimaradhoo wards, but added Friday’s clashes were more violent than previous incidents.
“This started a long time ago. The disputes between the residents of the two wards have lead to scuffles even before. When one group creates violence, the other group takes revenge,” he said.
