Man in ICU after being stabbed in the neck

A man has been seriously injured in a gang fight that occurred last night near Jamaaluhdheen Mosque.

According to reports 2 people who came on a motor cycle attacked a man with a knife, stabbing him in the neck and body several times before escaping.

Police Media Official informed that the injured person is currently at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). The official said the incident occurred at around 2030 hours and additional details cannot be furnished as the matter was under investigations.

According to eyewitness the injured man lost a lot of blood due to multiple wounds and was unconscious when he was taken to the hospital. Eyewitness informed that the injured person was taken to hospital by members of the public in a pick up.

Shortly after the incident occurred Police officers were on the scene and have initiated investigations. Police has appealed to the general public to come forward with any information that they might have regarding the incident or of the escaped attackers.
