
According to Bathala Resort there were some 14 tourists and three crew members onboard when the accident occurred on Monday afternoon. The resort said despite damage to one of the airplane’s floats there were no casualties.
Bathala Resort had informed that despite severe weather conditions and rough seas, the speedboat did not sink and that the extent of the damage to the airplane or the speed boat is not know as yet.
According to unofficial information the accident happened during the landing stage of the airplane and since one of its floats were damaged the airplane was listing to a side.
Investigation team from Civil Aviation Authority later arrived on the site to launch investigation in to the accident, but so far, has not made any official statement. Air Taxi had declined to provide any details of the accident.
