Two men in possession of large amounts of alcohol arrested

Two men found to be in possession of large amounts of alcohol have been arrested. They were arrested at around 2130 hours last night in a joint operation by the Internal Intelligence Department and the Drug Enforcement Unit when they were unloading bottled alcohol from a taxi into a space made in the ground floor of a house in Henveiru.

The Police seized 66 unopened bottles of alcohol, 22 half-full bottles and 64 empty bottles at the scene. The evidence is now with the Police and two Maldivians have been arrested in the case

The case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department and Internal Intelligence Department of Maldives Police Service.
