Male' - Two men who are brothers were attacked by a gang in Male' tonight, reports say. Two men riding a red motorcycle attacked them around 10 pm (Monday night) near Finance Ministry in Ameenee Magu, Male'. Initially they attached one brother and slashed the back of his neck. Later they returned and attacked the other brother, who sustained a severe injury to his back. The brother with the neck injury is believed to be in a very critical condition and is undergoing emergency surgery. Reports say that the most seriously injured is the famous bass guitarist Inaad Mohamed. He is now a permanent resident of Holland and is in the Maldives on a business visit, sources close to him say. Gang fighting has been a major problem in the capital Male' and two people, including a 14 year old in the last 4 months and many have been seriously injured and scarred for life. The army was deployed last month to control the situation but attacks are once again occurring very frequently despite the fact that the army and the police apprehended some 80 people in relation to violent crimes. Latest reports say that the police is searching for Ahmed Liushan, 27, Ma. Oasis Villa, who is believed to be the main suspect.
