Gayoom, who is currently in Malaysia, delivered a message to his supporters via his spokesperson Mohamed ‘Mundu’ Shareef expressing gratitude for standing up in his defence. The main opposition party DRP announced that Gayoom would arrive in Male at 10.30pm Friday and would meet DRP members at Darubaaruge on January 5.
