MALE, April 11, 2010 (Haveeru News Services) – A 20-year-old man, who was severely injured in a gang fight at SinaMale-1 flats Saturday evening, is under Intensive Care at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

An eyewitness said the man was injured by a member of his own gang in an attempt to attack a rival gang member.

“He immediately fell to the ground when he was hit accidentally by a member of his gang in attacking a member of the other gang with an iron rod,” the eyewitness claimed.

According to a Police media official the man, who holds criminal records with the Police, received serious injuries to his head, back and arms.

Although IGMH did not reveal details of the injuries, Haveeru has learnt that he is suffering from a severe head injury.

“We cannot disclose anything, as his family does not wish to reveal any details,” a media official of IGMH said.

Police said two suspects including a minor were arrested but refused to give further details, saying the case was being investigated.

The eyewitness, however, said some of the men involved in the fight came to SinaMale-1 area on four motorcycles, adding they fled when Police arrived at the scene.
