minivanAn eight-year-old girl who was sleeping in the same room as her mother was allegedly raped by a 28-year-old local man, according to the girl’s mother, speaking to Minivan News today.
Police confirmed they received a report that on Saturday night a man broke into the house in Alifu Alifu atoll Thoddoo, and allegedly raped the child. The man was arrested on Sunday afternoon and is now in police custody.
“This is not only a child abuse case,” said Ahmed Kara, head of the island health centre. “There are a lot of stories [about him] but no one reported. What he’s doing is that after people are sleeping he goes in the room.” more....
