Reports of students at the Haa Dhaalu atoll Makunudhoo School coming down with an anomalous sickness has prompted the Education Ministry to send a team to the island to investigate.Mohamed Ihusan, who has been charged with managing the Makunudhoo School, said last Thursday that the strange sickness had caused alarm among the parents and that they had requested the Education Ministry for permission to close down the school. However the Ministry had sent a team to investigate before granting them permission to close the school, Ihusan said.He said that the first two cases of the strange sickness had occurred around a week back when two students and a teacher had fallen ill quite suddenly. However, since then the sickness had started spreading and every day another student had fallen victim.
